Hey There!

Finishing Touches...

Hey folks!

Just putting the finishing touches on the album art for 'Almost Home.'

This has been such a long, crazy journey.

I figured- what better and more logical way to complete it than to buy a 1930's typewriter,
fix it up, and use it for all the album liner notes?

I knew you'd get it.

Thanks so much for your patience with this project, friends.
Especially to those magical supporters who helped crowd-fund 'Almost Home,' a long time ago.

I'll keep you posted, but the album should be ready to go in the next week...

(Good Lord, that feels crazy to say...)

SongPrompt for Sunday August 7th, 2016

Hi friends!

I hope you've had an awesome week, and that you're prepping for a great long weekend!
Since there will be no open mic at McGrady's this Sunday, July 31st, I wanted to give you a good, hearty #songprompt for Sunday August 7th, 2016.

Your assignment for Aug. 7th is to either write a song or learn a cover using one of the scariest things out there to guitarists, but also one of the most exciting and liberating... A CHORD THAT IS BRAND NEW TO YOU.

That's right... a chord you've never used before.

So pull out that old chord dictionary, or search for one online.

I'm really looking forward to hearing what you come up with.

Sunday August 7th should be a very rewarding night!

Play a story, win a story. It's another #perfectsunday #doubleshot!

This Sunday, June 26th, is another #perfectsunday #doubleshot!
This is going to be the best one yet! So many exciting things...

First off, I'll be playing 2 sets with my co-conspirator Jeff Haynes at everyone's favourite craft brewery, the Second Wedge Brewing Co. in Uxbridge.
2-4pm. We're thrilled to have the honey-voiced Tim Fors as our special guest opening act.

Then we head over to Col. McGrady's Pub, just up the street, for my weekly Sunday night Open Mic.
Sign up is at 5:30pm. We'll be starting the night off with a special FEATURE SET by Uxbridge's own super-uke duo of mass destruction,

The #songprompt theme of the night is: Story Songs.
Play a song along the theme, and earn a ticket for the draw Sunday night, which will be for a $25 Gift Card to
Canada's best bookstore- Blue Heron Books! Play a story, win a story. Excellent.

Hope to see y'all at both!

Sunday Open Mic, Father's Day Edition!

The #songprompt for tonight's Col. McGrady's Open Mic is:

Play a song along that theme tonight, and earn a ticket towards next Sunday's SongPrompt Draw
for a $25 gift-card to Blue Heron Books, twice voted Canada's best Bookstore!

Sign-up starts at 5:30pm. See ya then!

SongPrompts for June 2016

So sad that songwriting legend Guy Clark has passed away.
We'll be honouring his legacy of finely chiseled songs Sunday June 12th at Col. McGradys.

Here's the list of SongPrompts for the month of June, 2016, all ready to put up on yonder in-house refrigeration machine.

Looking forward to hearing what you come up with!

More fun with Beer...

Excited to announce that Darrin Davis and Jeff Haynes will be performing the last Sunday of every month,
at Uxbridge's own awesome brewery, the Second Wedge Brewing Co!

Songs on a Pink Couch, Season 3 debut episode! Look at Miss Ohio, by Gillian Welch.

Well friends, it's time for another season of Songs On A Pink Couch!

Click the Link Below to see what all the fuss is about.

Jeff Haynes and I start this season off with an incense and Irish Whiskey fuelled version
of 'Look at Miss Ohio' by one of our greatest living song-writers, Gillian Welch.

Jeff is playing his amazing Gibson J-185, strung with Ernie Ball Aluminum Bronze 12's,
I'm playing the trusty old Underdawg, my 1965 Gibson J-50, strung with the new prototype D'Daddario
Nickel Bronze 12's.

Enjoy responsibly.
