The last Thursday of each month, I host a songwriting circle at the beautiful Orillia Public Library.
I think you should come on out and give it a try. It's a great group of really dedicated, encouraging folks just like yourself, who are striving to make develop their craft. The song circle runs from 6pm until 7:30, and is free of charge.
Hey friends! Amy and I are very excited to be playing 2 sets this Saturday as part of the stellar Roots North Music Festival in our sweet hometown of Orillia! We'll also be joined on a handful of tunes by the Brigadier-General of the Banjo, Ben Lowry.
The show is at 2pm, at the whimsically wonderful Harold & Ferne, The Local Goods Co. 165 Mississaga St. E, downtown Orillia.
It was a real pleasure to launch my new album, "Almost Home" to a packed house of amazing folks last weekend, in the town where the album was recorded and mixed- lovely Uxbridge Ontario.
Special thanks to Jeff Gunn for opening the night with a stunning solo set of instrumental pieces from his upcoming album. It was great to get to perform with my buddy Jeff Haynes again, and there were more than a few magic moments singing once more with my beautiful wife Amy. Since the birth of our little Sadie, chances to perform together have been few and far between. I sure do cherish the times we do get to make harmonies in front of awesomely attentive listeners.
Thanks also to the sweet and talented Dawna Huizenga for joining me in a very special debut duet of 'Winter Stars.'
And a huge shot of gratitude to our gracious and grand host, Tamara Williamson, for setting up such a perfect environment for these very personal songs to come alive.
This album has been a multi-year heart-project for me. The idea came to me the day my grandfather passed away- to write, home-record, produce and mix an album about his life, from start to finish.
It was a much larger project than I imagined- and I had boatloads of learning to do before I was ready to release it.
But now it is complete, and I feel a unique sense of freedom and wonder at what the next project will be...
Happy to announce I'll be doing an opening set for the great Terry Savage and the Wonky Honkees this coming Thursday, February 2nd, 2017. Album Release: Saturday February 4th, 2017. My grandfather was born in 1917. I've written, recorded, and hand-produced an album about his life, and will be releasing it 100 years after his birth- this February 4th. The initial launch party will be in the intimate form of a cozy house concert in central, downtown Uxbridge. The music will start at 8pm. I'm very happy to have my super-talented, world touring, sensei of the six-string friend Jeff Gunn doing an opening set. I will be joined by the masterful Jeff Haynes and the beyond-words Amy Jefferies, plus a few other tune-enhancing guests throughout the evening. BYOB, light snacks will be served. Suggested donation is $20. More info and FB event page to follow... For further details, please message me at firstname.lastname@example.org, or email Tam Williamson at email@example.com.
