Hey friends! Amy and I are very excited to be playing 2 sets this Saturday as part of the stellar Roots North Music Festival in our sweet hometown of Orillia! We'll also be joined on a handful of tunes by the Brigadier-General of the Banjo, Ben Lowry.
The show is at 2pm, at the whimsically wonderful Harold & Ferne, The Local Goods Co. 165 Mississaga St. E, downtown Orillia.
It was a real pleasure to launch my new album, "Almost Home" to a packed house of amazing folks last weekend, in the town where the album was recorded and mixed- lovely Uxbridge Ontario.
Special thanks to Jeff Gunn for opening the night with a stunning solo set of instrumental pieces from his upcoming album. It was great to get to perform with my buddy Jeff Haynes again, and there were more than a few magic moments singing once more with my beautiful wife Amy. Since the birth of our little Sadie, chances to perform together have been few and far between. I sure do cherish the times we do get to make harmonies in front of awesomely attentive listeners.
Thanks also to the sweet and talented Dawna Huizenga for joining me in a very special debut duet of 'Winter Stars.'
And a huge shot of gratitude to our gracious and grand host, Tamara Williamson, for setting up such a perfect environment for these very personal songs to come alive.
This album has been a multi-year heart-project for me. The idea came to me the day my grandfather passed away- to write, home-record, produce and mix an album about his life, from start to finish.
It was a much larger project than I imagined- and I had boatloads of learning to do before I was ready to release it.
But now it is complete, and I feel a unique sense of freedom and wonder at what the next project will be...
Album Release: Saturday February 4th, 2017. My grandfather was born in 1917. I've written, recorded, and hand-produced an album about his life, and will be releasing it 100 years after his birth- this February 4th. The initial launch party will be in the intimate form of a cozy house concert in central, downtown Uxbridge. The music will start at 8pm. I'm very happy to have my super-talented, world touring, sensei of the six-string friend Jeff Gunn doing an opening set. I will be joined by the masterful Jeff Haynes and the beyond-words Amy Jefferies, plus a few other tune-enhancing guests throughout the evening. BYOB, light snacks will be served. Suggested donation is $20. More info and FB event page to follow... For further details, please message me at firstname.lastname@example.org, or email Tam Williamson at email@example.com.
This Sunday, June 26th, is another #perfectsunday #doubleshot! This is going to be the best one yet! So many exciting things...
First off, I'll be playing 2 sets with my co-conspirator Jeff Haynes at everyone's favourite craft brewery, the Second Wedge Brewing Co. in Uxbridge. 2-4pm. We're thrilled to have the honey-voiced Tim Fors as our special guest opening act.
Then we head over to Col. McGrady's Pub, just up the street, for my weekly Sunday night Open Mic. Sign up is at 5:30pm. We'll be starting the night off with a special FEATURE SET by Uxbridge's own super-uke duo of mass destruction, CROW!
The #songprompt theme of the night is: Story Songs. Play a song along the theme, and earn a ticket for the draw Sunday night, which will be for a $25 Gift Card to Canada's best bookstore- Blue Heron Books! Play a story, win a story. Excellent.
The always delightful Tim & Esther go on tonight at 9pm sharp. Then I'm up, with some magic guests of delight joining me. Then the ever-awesome Dawna H proves she can do a heck of a lot more than just make the best Latte's and ginger cookies this side of the Mississippi... Then I'm up again, to bring everything back to earth before we all head home. Hope to see you all there tonight!
Excited to say I'll be playing a full night of music at Wixan's Bridge in Uxbridge on Saturday Dec. 12th. Show starts at 9pm, and goes to the wee hours. I'll be joined by some special guests, including an opening set by Tim & Esther, and a later set by Dawna H. Should make for a great evening of stripped down acoustic bliss. :)
I'm very happy to say I'll be doing a solo opener set for the great Oh Susanna on Saturday December 5th! I kick things off at 8pm. The show is at the Greenbank Centennial Hall, and is put on by the wonderful Greenbank Folk Music Society. Tickets are available locally at Blue Heron Books, on Brock Street in Uxbridge.
